My amp is a Rotel (remembered now) with phono stage. Nice and simple. It basically there to do stereo.
I have had Squeezebox's around the house for years now. They were great upto Logitech acquiring them and pulling development. I suppose Sonos are the dogs bollocks now but I think over priced.
If you are wanting decent cable go with QED Silver anniversary. i did my lounge with that stuff. Not cheap though.
I suppose its how far your ear can tell. All rooms have shit acoustics anyway so thats the biggest problem. the argument is dont buy speakers manufactured in the East as their music tastes have much higher sounds than in the west so their stuff is manufactured accordingly.
For home theatre I love Kef. Their eggs are amazing - what you get out of such small speakers. I invested around £1750 in a set of flat Kef speakers for the lounge. Around 2cm thick they are great to wall mount
To be honest those Amazon echos sound really good for the price though.
