I'm halfway through the interview. Just loads and loads of shit from Kinnear.
Marsch wasn't successful. In fact it ended horribly for him at Leipzig. Inheriting a team that finished 2nd in the league. In just 17 games, he lost the dressing room. What kind of pedigree is that, that makes Orta/ Kinnear or anybody, to think that he was on the verge of becoming one of the best young coaches in Europe?! Kinnear keeps saying how well Marsch did when he came in and saved us from relegation. That he is a pragmatic coach? Everyone who watched us could see it was old fashioned long ball, a few that fell in our way. Marsch was just clueless.
So they knew managing Leeds where everyone in the city is interested in the football team's performances is tough, managing a team in the premier league is tough, then what makes them think Marsch is the right guy? like so many have said, with the returning players from injuries, Bielsa would have kept us up too.
And the timing of sacking Marsch, Squareball asked the right questions, but Kinnear simply avoided the responsibility of him as the management head, simply pushing it to a couple of good results before the break blinded them.
The Leeds project, Bielsa was one that they'd thought is suitable to lead over a number of seasons. but why were we as a club, prioritize the Top Flight status over stability and long term vision, when up to that point our transfer policies were clearly on youth and prospects? 8 new faces joined the club in both transfer windows during the 21/22 season. Only Firpo and James were signed for the first team. Miller, McGurk, Bate, Klaesson, Hjelde and Joseph were all for the U23.
I used to think, that the club did not spend in January of 2022 to back Bielsa because there were no targets that Bielsa had wanted. But now it seems Radz was just being stingy, even with the amount of injuries we were facing.
And never forget Radz offered Elland Road to secure a loan to become owners of Sampdoria.
My conclusion is, Kinnear might be a good corporate guy, but knows absolutely nothing about football.
