EEPW not ignorant at all. He was the General manager/Secretary at LUFC during the late 60's until the 80's (when he was sacked lol). So he was the backroom equivalent (but not as well paid may I add) as Don Revie. His boss was Manny Cousins for the main part. A great time to be in that position, arranging Cup Finals and other big games (he once went up to Celtic with 10,000 tickets in his car) , Going all over Europe (including the then Eastern block which he had some seriously scary tales about) and basically being part of an amazing club that was, back then very much a family.
When he got sacked (really because he had been the one that brought Clarke (his friend) in he was offered serious money by the papers to sell his story (he had the alleged brief case with all that supposed money in it - NOT!!!!!!). But he NEVER divulged what went on, if anything mat I add, and took that to his grave. I have so much respect for him for doing that.
BUT The Damned United film that shows him as a short, fat cigar smoking bloke is totally unlike him. As was the scene that shows him walking on to a beach in Spain dressed in a suit and with a briefcase offering Cloughie a contract. The suit and briefcase were correct but I think the actual business may have been done in a service station on the M1 north of Nottingham ('cos I might have bene with him lol - left in teh car of course)
