doggybag I know now that Marcelo should never have been made to leave. This should have been his triumph smiling shyly as others cavort. When he left, he took the magic with him. That’s what I missed, I missed Marcelo. I bet I’m not the only one.
You make some great points, and I too am (still) greatly saddened by his departure, but honestly, I feel the magic left quite a few matches before he did. I feel mildly ashamed for thinking like this after all he did for us, and just for being who he is. It was kind of like watching Ali or Tyson getting battered towards the end of their careers, it just didn't seem fair and filled me with sadness.
Edited to say the PL/ global audiences witnessed football in its purest sense in that first season back, all the pundits up and down the country and indeed across the world just sat there and said ''fuck me, this is what it is all about''. We are all the better for seeing it first hand.
The speed of the departure also didn’t seem right to me, I don’t feel we have had closure on that one that is why we all likely feel like we do. They should get him back and we should give him a proper send-off.
