Jon SardineTree What I mean is it’s not like he was brought in with any expectation of turning them into a title contender. There’s a subset of mangers who get jobs because there’s an expectation they can keep a team in the league relatively inexpensively. Bruce is one of them.
SardineTree Jon See what you mean. Mate who's a Geordie and said at the time, not exactly an inspiring choice!
Reggie_Perrin Jon true and they are probably aren’t at turning a blind eye, ask no questions and pay a straight bat to the press. I presume he hold some records in numbers of clubs managed and certainly the three sets of local rivals he’s managed must be a first.
90Piesanhour This is a good read: https://sport.optus.com.au/articles/os23753/leeds-bielsa-analysis-premier-league-storey?fbclid=IwAR1SrwSjnJ00P8ISdholrQPC9A6_uN0wbUJOWpBZXhoFase5Ic77OkKthZY
Reggie_Perrin Is it a gamble to let Alioski go and bring in a new LB? If we signed nobody at all would we be pushing for top 4 anyway?
space I kind of get why people think we could have a better defender in left back, but the trade off with Alioski is that you get someone better going forward and that suits Bielsa's style of play. I hope he stays. He does add a lot in attack. And he's the king of shithouse.
Mitaman space You raise a very important point. Many South American teams, particularly in Brazil play with only two dedicated defenders, thats the two centre-halves, everybody else has attacking capacity.
heyho If the target is European football in 22/23 then it could be argued that the current squad with a bit of tweaking is capable of getting into a position for the lesser of the two European competitions. But that would then mean a bigger squad to cope with the extra matches and travelling, something that impacted Wolves.
Foxy_Dread Wolves qualified for Europe in 7th with 57 PTS. Whilst competing in Europe they finished 7th with 59 PTS.
heyho Foxy_Dread Wolves qualified for Europe in 7th with 57 PTS. Whilst competing in Europe they finished 7th with 59 PTS. i stand corrected then. Just I remember getting bored of all the commentators going on about it being WOlves 1,250th game of the season and what an impact it was having on them
Reggie_Perrin Jon Yes I think so. He's not shown enough and had more chances than most. Think the generation below him have caught him up. Maybe a years loan would benefit all.
