90Piesanhour I think fucked is a little strong. There are 16 games left of which we need to win at least 5, preferably 6. We've eradicated the main thing that was preventing us from winning games. We're in a slightly better position than a week ago in terms of performance and team morale. Now to turn that into points.

I listened to the match on the radio yesterday and for long periods it was all Leeds.

The All Stats podcast makes for sobering listening. I recommend a listen but will summarise the main points.

Reviewing the Man Utd games they said:
It wasn't a departure from Marsch's style.
The improved performances were a continuation of the Marsch era improved performance against the better teams, whose style plays to our strengths
They are concerned we will continue to struggle to get results against teams around us in the table.

Overall it's a bleak outlook.

Not getting a new manager, it's hard so late in the season. Would rather the club took a long term view than panic and be stuck with someone beyond the end of the season who we didn't really want in the first place, ie Nuno. Even if it means relegation.

Foxy_Dread well I suppose that's just an example of the opinion/arseholes theory. We did lay wider and the gaps between the banks did seem smaller. Still too much space at the back though.

Thats just bollocks from people who havent watched the Leeds games wifh or without Marsch.

The last two games felt like breaths of fresh air after being forced to breathe someone elses farts for 11 months.

Reggie_Perrin bit harsh Reg, everything they do will be well considered. At times there would be some width under Marsch. They did acknowledge tweaks, just said the tweaks so far were not of huge significance.

I didn't watch the games properly so don't really have a view myself.

Foxy_Dread crossed my mind too that Marsch's Leeds have done better against stronger sides, but i thought I noticed a little change as in wingers stayed wider, bamford having more support when he initiates press, overall just better accountability on whose responsibility does a particular opposition player belong to. And tried more link up plays from the back instead of pushing forward too quickly. That said, we're still very vulnerable and allover the place when the opposition pressed.

Foxy_Dread well considered or not it's still just an opinion. I think most people noticed at least some variation on what JM was pushing.

Reggie_Perrin I'm not sure there is a difference of opinion here. They said it was Marsch with small tweaks, you are saying it is Marsch with variations.

Marsch's stuff didn't work against the weaker teams. Let's see if we try to address the reasons for that today. Ie not pressing too much on a team that will bypass it with a ball over the press or around the press.

They did say we had mostly stopped pressing the centre backs and were focussing on the full backs. I had called it a selective press (game 2) without identifying the focus.

Hopefully with more time it is refined further and we come up with an effective game plan today.

Placid It may or may not be bollocks but they do watch the games.

To try and make their point better for them, was it a departure from Marsch's style when Leeds were at Liverpool, at home to Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City or away to Tottenham? ie Teams that continue to try and play football against the press?

Definitely different. More width and less frantic. The pressing seamed more calculated , not every time all the time.

Placid I can't see it, to get that in depth they have got to be watching it on the TV. They are dull though, listening to them I always nod off, very dull

Placid one thing that was apparent to me under Marsch and I only mention him as this is his team so it's still relevant. I thought we can attack or defend but we cannot set up to do both effectively in the same game. It all boils down to the midfield not being an orthodox midfield.
