Why do I feel even more pessimistic.

When I did the points tally for what we had got in our previous fixture against the above this season it came to 13 points I think.

I suppose there was the argument last year we burnt out. Cant use that this time.

I’d say we need 20 points which will include winning all 5 home games (inc Fulham). Scraping 5 away from home isnt going to be easy;.

I always feel pessimistic but I reckon between 14 and 20 points. I think 20 would see us up easily. I’m waiting on Foxy’s proper statistical analysis though as I know nothing. I mean I confidently predicted that Liverpool would not go on to win in Europe with the likes of Jordan Henderson.

I’m confident, we’ll piss it . Fresh and fitter than most of our opponents . A lot of them will of thought their seasons were over , pigging out , binge drinking and over weight . Thanks to Bielsa our boys will be
even fitter and stronger than when we finished.

Cardiff are well rested.

90% to finish top 2. We know they will dominate every game, only bad luck can stop them. This team performs in big games, they did last season until after the Wigan fuck up knocked them sideways. Even Derby at home had a lot of good in it. Going up.

I guess the big qustion is the lack of crowds. How much of our pace was affected by large crowds v how much of the defence of our opponents due to their own home crowd lifting them?

i.e. can we play with that intensity in empty stadia? Can our opponents cope with us with no home crowd? So many variables in this new situation.

Also, I think they could reasonably have a small crowd. I would split the season ticket holders into 5 groups, and they get to see one home game. All sat apart of course and have to wear a mask.

Mitaman They should link the crowd in by Zoom or Skype and play through clusters of speakers. Although, I’m thinking they’ll play better with the pressure off, communication will be better as well. Sometimes you’d see them lose that connection in the rare matches they played average in. They never stopped trying, but they lost some spark or creativity, maybe being able to converse and treat like a training match will take the pressure off and help them talk to one another. Bielsa will be easily heard as well. Think it will be a positive. So 5-2’s all the way from me…

The thing i’d be more concerned about than crowds is the heat. The extra subs could help other teams mask and lack of fitness too.

Harvest The players will need a summer break Harvest. They have been very busy self isolating 😆

heyho I hope they don’t bring in a winter break.

It’ll either be crack on, start maybe mid-August with an extended transfer window and have a two week xmas break then crack on to the end of May. Or perhaps start Sept 1st and finish end of May. Prefer the latter, as it gives a 6 week transfer window. Still think they’ll extend that. All about the Euros kicking off in June 2021. Also, imagine no boxing day and NYD matches, you’d have to talk to the family..

In some ways,I see the lack of crowds as a positive for our lot.
Without a doubt the tension generated from the stands at the back end of last season,transgressed over to some of the team.
We were a bag of nerves towards the end.
I might be clutching at straws somewhat,but that’s how it seemed.

Remember going to Arsenal, night game early 90 s. They were rebuilding the North Bank and had a mural up. I remember they played crowd chanting into the ground as the teams were warming up.
“There’s only one Tony Adams ” was booming out of a speaker.
Tony waved towards the mural. I remember thinking , thank fuck you can play football.
