I'm sure they don't. Not even high profile ones involving massive levels of child abuse by people on the television. Meanwhile, as we all know, Bojo is single handedly responsible for ordering the NHS PPE equipment. Either people in charge are responsible for what happens under them or they're not.

Just to be personally clear here, so I don't have to circle back and explain this over and over again while being verbally abused, I am not in any way saying that Starmer is responsible, I am not in any way saying Johnson is not responsible.

I am pointing at the hypocrisy and double standards used within politics. Nothing more than that. Nothing less than that.

You are strongly suggesting Starmer has some involvement though - through your pointing out of the hypocrisy in politics.

space my issue isn't with where responsibility lies ultimately. Both had overall responsibility for the actions of those underneath them. Johnson has to carry the can for the PPE contracts. Starmer should for decisions taken in respect of prosecutions during his tenure as DPP.
But the issue here isn't that.
Had the first limb of the code been made out, that is, had there been a reasonable prospect of a conviction and then Starmer, or indeed lawyers working under him, concluded that prosecuting him was not in the public interest, then Johnson may have a point. But my understanding is that is not what happened. So he doesn't.
No matter who is involved and what they're accused of, we don't take cases to court if that first limb of the test isn't made out. That's called due process. It's following the rules, no matter how unpalatable or unattractive the result might be.
The issue here is the words used. Those words are very important. Johnson knows that. He suggests Starmer 'refused' to prosecute Saville. The clear inference is that there was a nailed-on case with witnesses, lawyers and the police chomping at the bit to go to court and Saville decided to protect a paedophile. That's not what happened. You know that. You know what the comment was about.
It was a deliberate smear. There's no hypocrisy. No double-standards.

Travis_Bickle The same kind of language was used re Bojo and the PPE crisis. It wasn't that he was in charge, people were saying it was his direct fault. His fault that stocks were diminished. Hos fault no extra was ordered etc. I am comparing oranges with oranges here.

Dunno now. The Met are in deep shit with investigations finding them complicit in misogyny, bullying, racism and an officer guilty of rape and murder. You're projecting. I didn't suggest anything. I just pasted up a link from a Corbyn leaning media outlet attacking Starmer. I neither suggest people should or shouldn't support Starmer. I posted this up as my expectation would be that maybe their efforts would be spent attacking Johnson rather than the leader of their own prefered party given what's going on at the moment but I was entirely wrong.

It's all a bit "People's Front of Judea".

My point - which I thought was obvious but apparantly not - was that it puzzled me somewhat that a faction of pro-Corbyn labour online media would find that now was the right time to attack and undermine Starmer.
