So after my mum died earlier this year I finally managed to get my parents estate sorted. ‘Right’ I thought ‘I am going to treat myself to a new car’. So sold my 14yo Land Rover Discover and my 16yo Nissan 350Z and put it towards a new on.
Ended up treating myself to a 2yo Audi S4 B9. Amazing car to drive - fast and very luxurious. Now I dont drive like a tit (honest) and still have a clean licence. But this car was my dream car. There is also an element of sadness as it is the first car I have bought where I havent been straight round to my dads to take him for a drive in it (he loved that - even the 350Z which he struggled to get in and out of). And my head is full of memories of my mum in the windows as my dad and I set off.
Anyway yesterday evening my wife and I travelled to the static caravan near Hull to shut the caravan down for winter in case we cant return. Then went and bought Fish and Chips from Sullivans in Hornsea and ate them in my ‘beloved’ car (the stink) on the front. And then we returned home. Well not quite.
There I am stationary on a road signalling to turn right when I see in my rear view mirror a car approaching me at some speed. Next I remember cool saying ‘wow wow wow wow wow’ as he ploughed into the back of us projecting the car and us several yards forward. The car is a right off now and so is the 19yo’s ;boy racer’ Toyota Yaris. I could have killed him especially as the first thing he said was ’oh I am so sorry I wasn’t concentrating’ but decided calm was the best approach. Police came. His mum and dad turned up and first thing his mum said was ‘oh he would have been on his phone’. All his dad could say was ‘noone is a winner with insurance are they’.
Anyway the police went, he went with mummy and daddy and we spent 2.5 hours at the side of a busy country road with hazards on waiting to be towed away and a taxi home.
Havent to keep an eye on Mrs H as she has woken up with a bad headache, neck pains and knee (she basjed it against the dashboard). I’m ok as I had seen it coming so had tensed myself and of course I am built like a brick shit house.
Anyway its 100% his fault but now I am faced with the hassle of insurance. Ths isnt a Ford Focus either and getting a decent example of an S4 with the spec I had is nigh on impossible. And i will end up out of pocket.
And all because some little got wasnt paying attention.
