Runswick Bay/Staithes

Has anyone stayed in any of the pubs in and around Staithes and Runswick bay? I know lots of folk go/have been.

I am thinking about Feb half term - seen a few pubs with rooms but a reco would be appreciated.

Runswick bay has two pubs the royal in the bottom no rooms but has an apartment , and the runswick bay hotel at the top which has rooms never stopped , but a great bar and food , there’s two more pubs between runswick and staithes at hinderwell the badger hounds and brown cow , within staithes you have the captain cook pub , the george which has rooms , then the cod and lobster great pub and food , theres loads of cottages in all the villages , i stay at Top Gallant in Runswick bay purely for the views from the cottage , it’s on VRBO

Thanks hendersonjones I'll check those out. I fancy a pub myself so I can have a big fuck off breakfast to set myself everyday.

Never stayed in any of the pubs in Staithes but stayed in Staithes in cottages many a time (have you considered that).

The Cod & Lobster doesnt have rooms I think but the Royal does (although directly over the road there is a shop called Dots or something like that) that has accommodation above it and is really nice. There's also the Fox & Hunds at the top of the village which I think they have refurbished and does do rooms.

My daughter's first ever fish and chips experience was outside the Cod and Lobster at Staithes about 7 years ago
and was met with hearty approval.

Going up to Whitby for three nights on Tuesday. Going via Sutton Bank as I fancy a mooch round there. Using Whitby as a base as I want to take in Robin Hood's Bay, Runswick Bay, Staithes etc.

I know there's plenty of other threads but if anyone wants to recommend pubs, restaurants, whatevers around there and surrounding villages it'd be appreciated. Birthday on Tuesday so will deffo be eating somewhere nice hopefully.

Harvest Ravenscar used to be worth a look. Good hotel and a history unlike anywhere else. Not sure if it's still going.

Waterside at Ruswarp is ace, eat outside it's lovely. Pricey but maybe do that for your birthday.

Pizza West is brilliant on Westcliffe. Very smart.

White Horse is classic pub food on the Abbey side in Whitby.

Ditto is great but strange opening times.

Check the Supper Club in Sleights - not been but great reviews.

Book for all.

Green Dragon and the Arch and Abbey for your ponce.

Abbey Brewery also good for a pint outside and great simple pizza.

I'm less clued up outside of Whitby. The pub at the bottom of Robins Hood bay is classic fare but pretty good for lunch.

Fantastic part of the world and I’m struggling to think of a better spot than the Royal Hotel at Runswick Bay on a day like today sat outside with some snap and an ale with a view to die for.

Cod and Lobster in Staithes is the business too.

Cant beat sitting outside Whitby brewery pub this weather.
Crocodile is probably the only tapas place in Whitby. I really liked it. Nice pub opposite. Beer Engine, I think it's called.

The Royal George in Staithes has decent pub food.

Stayed in the hotel once with a young lady. Apart from a quick walk round the gardens, didn't see much apart from the bedroom. Oh, the joys of yoof.
