I’ve seen one or two posts for the last couple of albums saying the choices were a bit safe. One thing I’d say about them (and i guess my own 2 or 3 before that) is that they’re generally regarded as classics so aren’t most people going explain why they love the album while a few are going to say that they don’t get it? Having said that, the Ziggy one was interesting because it’s an album that’s hugely famous but for some doesn’t stand up as well today as some of Bowie’s others which are stone-cold classics, meaning there maybe was more for people to get their teeth into.
Might it be good to have (as well?) a thread that gives a chance for people to post albums they think are classics but are maybe not so well known or outside the likely taste of most people on here. The Sugar one would have fitted well in there. When it was my choice I honestly thought about III by Follakzoid, Maxinquaye by Tricky or Maggot Brain by Funkadelic but I guessed they’d leave a lot of people on here cold so I ended up with an album that I was pretty sure would get a bit of discussion, even if it was a bit ‘safe’.
