An idea for the floor. We keep the weekly person choosing gizmo, but whoever is up posts a theme and a single and everyone else can post there track to the same theme.

Used to be in a facebook group that did this. Discovered some new stuff via it, and was reminded of stuff I'd forgotten about. If the chooser wants a New York punk week then thats what we post. Anything you want and we all follow suit.

Each week can be a new playlist.

space I like this idea. Keeps everybody involved every week. I sort of lost interest as the albums became more and more "obscure". (not a bad thing overall as it introduces stuff i wouldn't have even heard of, but then again i cant be arsed listening to stuff i KNOW i wont like)

Whatever form it changes to, can we have people choose in a set order rather than having the algorithm or whatever it was selecting? Up till now it's meant that some people have had a couple more picks than others

For me it was about the albums that should be in everyone's collection. Shame no one went full on main stream pop with anything.

An album that had some big songs on it, but I never thought it was coherent as an album, until I really listened to it.

Great synths, big guitars, ace drumming, strong vocals and harmonies, all wrapped up in a big '80's sound.

My next choice was going to be Songs from The Big Chair by Tears for Fears.

Placid I was this close to picking ‘Introspective’ this time.

For me it wasn’t about the albums everyone should have; that’s a bit ‘100 albums to listen to before you die’, those vinyl collections lovingly assembled in Sainsburys. Jon talked of those albums that if you saw it when rifling someone someone’s collection, it would make you think ‘they know their stuff, that’s a bit different’. The best ones were the ones a bit left field (but not too much) and/or with a great back story.

Before the advent of social media, I was in an email group that did something similar. Once a week someone suggested a theme, and we submitted songs with vaguely related titles. On one occasion a member had just been diagnosed as being diabetic, so that was theme. One genius came up with "I predict a diet".

Another one I wanted to do was '24 Years of Hunger', by Eg and Alice - interesting back-story and he (Francis "Eg" White) went on to write some very big hits.

Here's 'Indian' from that album. I heard it first on the radio and it stopped me in my tracks.

Had lots of nearly choices, limited my actual choices to what I thought you guys might like. It's got too obscure tbh. I'm not one for listening to adventurous stuff myself so a change of tack suits me, happy to go with the decision but if it stays as it is I would likely be out. Sorry.

I had two re done albums by the original artists if I got picked .
One a remade 80s masterpiece in my eyes
The other a remade collection of a bands songs in one package ,kind of a best of ,in their eyes .

In both cases both bands albums sound much better than they originally did .
