After a successful pre-season (5 wins and one draw), and a creditable 1-1 draw away at Hyde on Saturday, Guiseley came crashing back to earth 3-1 last night. Apart from it being a nice evening weather-wise, I can't think of any positives from the Guiseley perspective - Whitby simply outplayed them and scored 3 well constructed goals. Their number 11 on the right wing looked very handy and was thorn in the side of the Guiseley defence - someone said he was on loan from Middlesboro. Guiseley's attack seemed to be too focussed around the head of their extra tall centre forward who was well marshalled by the Whitby defence. Guiseley have signed a lot of decent players, but they didn't play as a cohesive unit. We live to fight again versus Basford United at home on Saturday.
