When I worked in Algeria, we used to drive to Morocco for occasional weekends , stop in Oujda first town after the border, had a big souk and lots more beggars than we were used to in Algeria. We’d usually go on to Mellia, one of the 2 Spanish territories in Morocco. Mainly to stock up on stuff unavailable to us ,5 kilo of bacon, nice cheese ,hams and chocolate, would top the shopping list.
Going through the 2 Moroccan borders could be a nightmare and then getting back through into Algeria with your pork and alcohol.
I bought a small stereo in Mellia once , they wanted import duty on it , when I protested the customs guy added another 50%, so paid it cash , straight into his pocket , no doubt.
