Raposa The third season started to get a bit wearing but the first couple were a laugh. Loads of grounds I'd never have done, Stockport, Colchester, Hartlepool, Yeovil, Exeter, Wycombe etc. Cheaper tickets, piece of piss to get into members only bars. Felt like we had a true-er fan base than some of the weapons that follow us today.
Yeh, I suppose we were a big fish but I don't ever see us a huge club like some do. How many years of our existence have we been in the top league? A third maybe. Successful for seven or eight years 60s/70s, a dalliance in the early 90s and a decent side end of 99s/early 00s - and that's kind of it.
We've not taken any cup competition seriously for years and years, we have a crumbling ground and a succession of boards/chairmen owners who have had no long term plan other than appointing a manager to try and get us up/keep us up. Bielsa was the chance to build but they blew it.
Farke seems to have something of a long term goal and he needs to be given time and money to achieve this. If we don't go up I hope to God they don't do something ridiculous like sack him to appease our entitled knobhead fans. Bielsa was given a second season and it worked.
I'd just like a slow, steady, successful build rather than a firefight all the time. Anyway, what the fuck was my point??
