Unless they change how the game is refereed then these behaviours will prevail. It’s like the added time nonsense, I get that when only one or two minutes, was added on, wasn’t a representative amount, but adding on 7 / 8 + minutes for time wasting is ridiculous. Particularly when referees have alway had the means to deal with it. It’s a cop out and a dereliction of their reffing duties. They rarely deal with time wasting in a first half, they should start! Goalkeepers, first time they do it, warning, second time yellow, third time final warning, fourth second yellow, and off.
If that was consistently applied, a few weeks of carnage, and then it would stop.
Same with that holding and grappling bollocks at set plays. Introduce zero tolerance, a few weeks of 3 / 4 + penalties a game, once clubs and players knew officialdom was serious, it would stop.
In most case there are rules to deal with the nonsense, they choose not to apply them and tweak things instead, and invariably make things worse.
