Ipswich took a chance on him and gave him a relatively big stage to operate on as his first proper gig in December 2021, giving him a 3 1/2 yr deal in the process. A year and a half later, upon promotion to the Champ, he was given a new & improved 4 yr deal at £1.2m a year. A year later, upon promotion to the PL, he's reputedly been offered a new & improved contract for 4 yrs at £5m a year. Ipswich have also promised to give staying up a proper go.
He's only been a manager for 2 1/2 fucking years. It's a damning indictment of top level English football that he's now in the running for Chelsea & Man U, as well as Brighton. And it's a damning indictment of the man that he doesn't feel that he owes Ipswich his loyalty for another season.
At best he's a very good up & coming manager still learning his craft, at worst he's this season's Michael Carrick.
