Placid not surprising given the respective wage bills. Celtic and Rangers are £20m per annum followed by a glut of clubs on £4m-£5m, then the lowest paying clubs £2m-£3m.

In comparison, the two Manchester clubs respective bills are £180m+, with the lowest being Luton at £5m and then Sheff U at £11m.

Except Celtic and Rangers, every club in League 1 has a higher wage bill than anyone else in the Scottish Prem, with both Bradford and Hartlepool in League 2 also having higher wage bills. So that’s the standard by wage that you’re looking at.

Does football go through geographical; phases? There was a time when every top team in England had a healthy contingent of Scottish players. And they were in demand across Europe.
I don't believe they've suddenly stopped being able to play the game. Or that they're all obese from eating deep-fried everything.
Maybe clubs just stopped looking north. And money stopped going north. They're not a 'new market'. They're not particularly 'cool'. In the modern game the money follows the hype. They have no hype.

Scottish football seems to be having a bit of a renaissance, there's some very good players in the national team now. We should have been looking at Gilmour instead of Weston Mckennie, Marc Roca and even Tyler Adams ...when Chelsea were binning him off. and there's a supply train of left backs that we seem to ignore as well, Kieran Tierney would be a good start.

The Hibs v Villa result wasn’t any real surprise given the obvious disparity in finances between the two.
Odd Job does right to highlight the wage differential too.
The Scottish international team seems to have picked up in recent years although I’d wager most of those are plying their trade south of the border.

Celtic being the obvious exception at club level but if you look at their squad they seem to have a high influx of foreign players .
