I disagree, Israel are currently operating beyond the control of any of its allies and international bodies, and have shown the world how disproportionally powerful they are as a country. This has been the situation since about December last year. They have shown themselves to be a ‘superpower’.
Gaza has been destroyed, possibly beyond repair, well beyond repair for Gazans/Palestinians. Conservative estimates think that it will take 20 years of work to remediate and rebuild. It will be subsumed into Israel.
Israel’s allies have had nigh on 12 months to rein them in on this and haven’t been able to. Supplied them with more and more advanced weaponry; yes. Reign them in; no.
Now, the desire for the destruction of Iran’s nuclear capabilities and hopefully resultant regime change is shared by a number of countries (openly or not), that is where we are now heading. Israel’s allies will now step in and do some of the dirty work for them, and claim that it was done to defend Israel and for the greater good.
As an aside why is Jenrick so keen to talk about personally building the British embassy in Jerusalem, during his push for the Conservative leadership? It doesn’t seem like a domestic vote winner. 🤷
