It's important to remember the dynamic here. Israel attacked Iran. The wisdom and legality are questionable at best. Hezbollah, with depressing inevitability fired rockets into Israsel (you can make a good case that those rockets were aimed at civilian areas, don't forget that bit). Israel responded in an arguably disproportionate fashion.
As the conflict continues, the problem with Hezbollah is clear. The Lebanese government order a cessation of all military activity in the country by Hezbollah. And expel the Iranian ambassador. The fighting continues. And the ambassador hasn't left. The Iranian government, Hezbollah's real leaders, taunt Joseph Aoun's government. Aoun just wants both sides to stop killing his people.
I'm no defender of Netanyahu's incursions. But, when we've had literally years of talk of 'occupation' in this thread, perhaps some of you will look at Hezbollah's truly malignant presence in Lebanon as well and ponder whether they're worthy of your ire too.

No one is blindly defending Hezbollah or the Iranian regime. Putting aside the politics, people are just sickened by the endless bombing and destruction of people and towns, while the world shuffles around looking at their feet. Russia is rightly vilified for attacking Ukraine, and the media supports this, but mention Palestine or Lebanon and people look away, or worse still, laugh. That’s the problem. Israel and their big bully mate, USA, getting away with murder. It’s come to something when a horrendous regime like Iran’s is now being cheered on as they refuse to kow tow to an unprovoked attack by two of the most out of control state/nations in the world.

Lebanon has not had a government in control of 100% of its territory in living memory and has little or no support from the outside world to create one.

The irony in these two statements is staggering.

Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza, Kataib Hezbollah and Asaib Ahl al-Haq in Iraq and the Houthis in the Yemen have all sought to undermine democracy and to wage war, usually targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. And all of them are managed and directed by the IRGC Quds force.
They have provided funds and military hardware to rebel groups in Morocco and Ethiopia.
Iran's government backed terrorist plots against Jewish and Israeli targets in Turkey, Cyprus and Colombia in recent years, all part of a continuing pattern.
Most recently, they've cosied up to Putin and supplied drones for use in the Invasion of Ukraine.
Their soft power networks stretch across Africa and South Amercia, from joint military cooperation in Bolivia to funding religious schools in Nigeria, Ghana and Sudan.

But it's Israel and America that are 'out of control'.

Israel and the States are currently doing what they want, safe in the knowledge there is very little condemnation of their actions. Any negative reaction there is, they don't give a fuck and Donald threatens those who do.

We live in a world where we've been brought up to believe that the USA is good, land of the free, democracy... and that everyone that wears a chapka, pakol, keffiyeh, turban, or hey ... lets be honest controls oil ... is an evil fucker who has to be defeated, for the good of the world.
*Or in the case of Greenland, needs saving from these evil fuckers .

We can agree about there being no balance. Point out the evils and indiscrections of the USA and Israel? No issue and rightly so. I may not agree with all of the allegations on here, but Netanyahu has the blood of innocents on his hands, that of Israelis, Iranians, Palestinians and Lebanese. Trump is no different.
Set out the same for Iran and others? A very different take. And that's what I don’t get. How liberal-minded people can take that view.
They execute people for being gay for fuck's sake. But, hey, they don't 'kow tow' to Uncle Sam eh?

Iran are rightly condemned but not Israel or the States on a global politco-media level.

CharlieG I saw that story/photo and the first thing that I thought of was after all the slaughter, brutality and inhumanity that has occurred during the last 2 years, that this act got the most/quickest attention/reaction. You can literally gang rape male prisoners, quadruple tap medical responders with drones, attack negotiators in Qatar and shoot civilians in the knees & genitals without issue, but take a sledge hammer to a statue of Jesus. Antisemitism is real. And it's here, right now. Jewish schools are surrounded by high walls and security guards. One in five students polled recently said they would not want to share accommodation with a Jew. People standing for elected office revel in the murder and persecution of Jews.
Jews whose families have lived here for generations are considering leaving the UK for the sanctuary of Israel in huge numbers (a colleague of mine has pretty much made up her mind she's going).
And still we indulge in the worst kind of whataboutery. We will look back on this period and hang our heads in shame. We should be already.
