What about the successive Palestinian leaders and administrations that have refused to engage in peace talks? Administrations that have the extermination of all Jews as one of their core principles.
As children are abducted, abused, terrorised and killed. As woman are raped and their corpses paraded in the streets, you choose to aim your ire at the Israeli government? A government that some of those now dead or captured may well have been protesting against in recent months?

Travis_Bickle Hamas are the result of 75 years of disenfranchisement and oppression. You kill innocent civilians indiscriminately, steal their land, destroy their houses, lock them up in refugee camps, deny basic human rights and living conditions to millions of people over an extended period of time WTF do you expect? Hamas are not right and will win few friends with this action, but its no surprise they react like this when they known nothing else for generations. The Israeli government sowed these seeds and they are reaping what they have sowed.

space my post wasn’t an unequivocal endorsement of Israel or the settler expansion. To say that there is intransigence on both sides is an understatement.
That’s always been my point when this issue comes up (we’ve been here before and Sderot was at the heart of that thread too).
There are two sides here. That doesn’t come across is much of the discussion. I questioned why, when one side displays such barbarity, the victims in this instance are the object of criticism.

All the reporting does seem to focus on Israel being the ones thst are being killed I.e. Palestine being the only bad guys.
Understand it this weekend, but over the past decades it has been massively one-sided the other way.

His first answer was spot on up to and including the US support for an occupying force. And he should have simply kept banging on that. To deny that Hamas killed over 200 hundred civilians at a music concert and that they did take non military prisoners damages his credibility. That misinformation is not going to help the situation. But what the hell. It’s like I said earlier, one mad fucker trying to kill another mad fucker. Just hope against hope that it doesn’t lead to that mad fucker, Iran, firing missiles at Israel. The number of armchair experts on the complexities of the horrors in Isreal / palestine various forums twitter etc is quite frankly astounding. Then those just posting up flags of Palestine, Some of my Irish “friends” jumping in and somehow trying to justify Hamas……astounding. Whatever the history whatever the politics whatever the actions of Isreal over the last 60. years. There can never be a justification for attacking innocent civilians at a music festival gunning down innocents, raping and taking women hostage. Its terrorism plain and simple.

Placid it very much has Russian and Iranian fingerprints all over it. US and EU weapons are being found - captured by Russia in Ukraine and sent in via Iran. Expect a wave of propoganda about Zelensky selling them from the troll farms.

space US and EU weapons may have come in from any number of fucked up sources - Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Niger, Mauritania, Chad, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen. I’d be surprised if Iran was shipping them in as they are Shi-ite - Hamas are Sunni. But you never know with the plethora of cunts in that part of the world.
