I haven’t listened to or heard much from the JAMC for decades. Listening to this, it took me back to the Powerhouse in Birmingham on a Sunday night in the mid/late-80’s. My memory associated them with a jangly guitars vibe, but listening to this reminded me that often the jangling was turned up to 11, and a Phil Spector wannabe engineer “wall of sound”-ed it, resulting in a noise that was not far short of someone trying to sing along to a backing track of distortion. A nice touch to give an an extra-threatening edginess at a live gig.
A good call CBIT. I’d be as happy now to listen to this on a C90 in my Walkman as I was then. (If I had a C90 and a Walkman. But you know what I mean.)
