I know it was just Rotherham, but he held the channel well, lost his man time and time again and at one point as Rutter drifted on to the wing, he was up there supporting Bamford. Must be hard to defend against. Who do you go with as an opposite RB when we press? Firpo, Summervile and often Rutter and Kamara? But he can't defend, don't you know! Well, he seems to have made some crucial blocks and tackles in most of the games in 2024. Even gave their big lump a straighener into the back and had him take minutes off the clock. Maybe we now have the player that had Mbepe in his pocket at Barca? Also, he could have had 3 assists if the frontline didn't squander the chances Firpo crafted. But as it is, he's 7 in 6 and has let in 1 goal in 2024. Without those assists we wouldn't be in the league position we’re in. Gruev and Ampadu both gives him the insurance needed to not get caught out. We don't play man-on-man anyway, so I have no quarter with those that say he can't stick with his man. Who cares, it's not 1984 and we don't play like that. Of course he'll get caught out / shagged out at times as a an attacking LB. But one things for certain, other teams cannot see him as the weakest link any more and they can't game-plan down his flank. In fact, along with Gruev and Rodon, he's the most consistent player out there at the moment.
