I missed out on that growing up - Piccadilly Records was too far away, and Peak Radio in Glossop was never going to be that place. RPM in Newcastle has that vibe but it’s a different dynamic at this age I think.

Was just washing up after tea and had put the Albert Hall gig on via Spotify. Ten year old daughter walks into the kitchen just as Going Up merges into With a Hip. I looked at her face when it got to the line "With your head in the clouds and your trousers undone, gonna shit on the carpet just like everyone" to check whether or not it had been registered. There was a mixture of bewilderment, astonishment and disgust unfolding then a massive grin then she laughed for about 5 minutes straight. Funny moment.

Me and jon knew this older lad at the time Dave Brydon older brother to a lad who knocked around with us around this time 83/84 , he had this gig on vhs and another one from a sefton park gig i think , remember Will seargents pale fountains t shirt at the RAH gig , we used to rewind play forwards the sefton gig you could see the Liverpool lads who hadn’t paid to get in up the trees watching wearing adidas kagouls and samba , great days from our youth and Dave was a good sort always letting us in to watch from memory he was a punk type

hendersonjones Just reading Paul Simpson's book at the moment. I liked the bit where he met the young Mick Head who told him he wanted to be in a band. If I had a tardis I'd love to go to Eric's in the late 70s early 80s and watch it all taking shape.

A constant source of wonder for me, the randomness of it all. Les and Will school mates, Mac, a mate from a club, friend of friends, Pete the brother of someone who someone new who happened to play drums. Les didn't even own a bass, no one had head Mac sing, Will by his own admission always looked for the easy way. Makes me think constantly what talent has never even been tapped? I mean one of us could be a great guitar player. It's not me but it could be one of you, who knows?
