fulmine That reminded me of Julie Davison at school, who was massively into the Bunnymen. I remember mentioning Cope and she made some disparaging remark and made it clear that if Mac didn’t like him then that was enough for her. It was this weird binary thing, one or the other but not both. Or in modern terms you were either Team Mac or Team Julian in her eyes
As it happens the Bunnymen have never really done it for me, so it was easier to fall into Team Julian, and not have to wrangle some ‘Team Zoo’ style compromise. I’m not sure exactly why I didn’t go for it; it just didn’t grab me at the time. I like this song, but apart from maybe Heaven Up Here I’m not sure I’ve listened to a whole album of theirs.
