Had a day out in Skipton in January. Pleasantly surprised how good it was.
Great little butchers, that sell banging pork pies ( Stanforths ). Sit on the wall opposite + devour a couple of those, before trying, a few of the pubs there.
Skipton Sound bar is a good. Sells vinyl + good beer.

I was gonna suggest that she go to the Lake District if possible and go to Glenridding, climb Helvellyn via Striding Edge then have a few pints of Lakeland ale and a homecooked steak pie in the Traveler's Rest pub and that she'll remember that day for the rest of her life. Then I realised that I'm just making suggestions for myself because it's exactly what I want to do right now.
