space ah, my bad. I do kind of have an inkling that levels of state support on housing benefit do drive up private rents as there are a lot of parasites exploiting the system. Have thought for years that we needs to drastically change tight to buy and build a shitload of small low-cost housing owned by us and fir rent to anyone who wants one. I might be naive but entry level housing shouldn't be as financially burdensome as it is.

That's the dream but also the conundrum with building houses to sell. No one will or can build an affordable house. They can only build profitable houses. They make what they call "affordable" houses by leaving some aside to rent or sell part-ownership.

Housing costs are an unburst bubble. The only way to make them affordable is to either make houses worth less or make our currency worth less. So shall we have the collapse of the property market or massive inflation?

No disrespect, we're all on the same side, but you're all clinging to an antiquated notion of what the Labour party was. Its not that any more, they've sold everyone out ...perhaps being away for over 2 decades the difference between then and now is clearer. If anything voting Labour eases the coiscience, you did your thing , stood up to the Tories ...
BUT voting Green and meaning it, is standing up against the system, two fingers to the Tories & Labour, Voting for a better future for your kids.
If those who voted Labour back in 1923 thought that they couldnt change the Tory/Whig status quo then we wouldn't be having this debate. Change can happen, you just have to want to make it happen.

I'm still waiting for this Socialist Nirvana to appear but as I said when the election was on, the Nurses will get a payrise, the private sector will get rinsed to pay for it, and nothing much else will change. And look at what has happened.

There policies are little different to the Tories. If anything they've out-toried the Tories. There policies stopped supporting the working classes in the 90s and mostly their voters didn't catch on. Some still don't see it.

YoungParisian_inExile as I said, it's potential outcomes for me. Voting Green to me is one less against the Tories with zero chance of power under our system. Everyone gets s choice but until we have PR we have two choices. Labour are more likely to do some good amongst the grubbing they all do.
