space I don't know if they can meet in the final, but i'd say that France are a cut above. Spain & Germany being the next best that I've seen. Holland have held on for a point tonight, if it had gone into extra time with Mbappe off the bench, then i can only see one winner.

I think that all 3 teams that I've mentioned would make short order of England in 90 minutes.

I'd put Portugal, Holland & Italy on the next step down. England below that.

I hate the french. They were lucky in the last world cup to get past England. And to be honest they're in a transition. Still very formidable, but im not convinced that Mbappe is the leader of this pack, he's their best player of course. But the french are only great when they can be together as a group.

I think it's awful for these lads with all the media brouhaha, bumming them up to be the next big thing and then sending them out with expectation hanging round their necks like swords. Same shit, different tournament.

Had a couple of hours in the Garden today so had time to think about this England squad and how to get the best out of their talents.
(not sure if Southgate has the oomph to go with it).

England would be better switching to 352 with Trippier and Arnold wing backs to get crosses in to Kane. Would stop the lisping idiot dropping into midfield.
Rice and Bellingham in the middle and then Foden behind Kane where he’s better suited (also allows to bring him off and go 2 up top without changing the formation).
Other midfielder to be Gallagher, Mainoo or even Wharton

My pet hate is the micro specialisation of midfield players, so we now have DMs AMs 10s and 8s.

Why do you need a DM, a good midfield pairing should know how to combine so they don't over commit and leave the team vulnerable to a counter. If play opens up and X can help push forward Y is more cautious and vice versa, but should be no need to micro manage players. I could go on but I've made the broad point.
