I think that it’s interesting to note that Watkins & Toney (and even Bowen) have come through lower league teams, and not PL academies.
I also think that for all the benefit to technique that modern training & fitness gives (at the top level) it’s taken away spontaneity & the ability to think outside your position.
The ideas of Regista, Trequartista, Mezzala, Libero & Lo Stoppers have come from the continent.
