For me Struijk is not a top quality CB. Maybe ok as a squad player but we need to upgrade. Rodon has consistently played better alongside Ampadu and this has shown in the clean sheets tally. Maybe a Rodon/Ampadu pairing would work in the prem? Which means we need a defensive CM. Wobble is probably not that man for CB. Byram is a great budget option for FB cover - he has plenty of prem experience and can play either side and in the middle if necessary.
Still not convinced by Darlow - he has improved as games go on, but he scares the shit out of me with his late releases with the ball at his feet - he'll get hammered doing that in the Prem.
Gruev is a Bulgarian international and yesterday fitted into the groove superbly. With games under his belt he's another that improves.
Rothwell is a no-no. Too old, too injury prone, plus his set pieces re nothing to write home about.
Aaransonsonson is an odd one - he covers miles and runs his bollox off in the press. If he could sort out his final ball he would be some player. I said the same about Adam before he fucked off.
Some of Tanaka's play was worrying yesterday and he's another who may get found out in the prem - I'm not sure he'd get away with those shimmys and twists and turns up a level.
Bamford needs putting out to grass. Joseph scores for fun for Spain's u21s but something just doesn't click in Farke's system - maybe he's trying to be too like Bamford?
Piroe is an ace finisher. He looks like he's worked on his fitness and the more I see of him the more he reminds me of Viduka - twinkle toes on the ball but knows where the onion bag is. He needs to be more involved in general play but you don't bin a 20 goal striker - how much would he cost to replace? And then there's no guarantee the replacement would work - there were a few we were linked with who got their move and turned out to be shite - Brereton Diaz is one such that springs to mind.
The big thing will be integrating the yoof and fringe players into the prem squad. Schmidt, Ramazani need game time but where do they get it?
There's some money needing to be spent that is for sure. Fuck knows where that's going to come from - unless Red Bull stick their hands in their very deep pockets, but even then their activity will be limited with the FFP rules.
