If they don’t start doing something very quickly, Man Utd will be in the bottom 6 for the remainder of the season.
What is making matters worse for them is how they are setting up against teams. Sporting can get away with it in Portugal, but it’s not so easy in the PL.
3-4-3 or 3-4-2-1 against Newcastle last night, with those players was only going to end one way.
Newcastle have a bastard of a midfield 3 and Amorim basically put Casemiro & CE up against it, with the blistering pace of Harry Maguire behind.
I appreciate Man U are troubled by injuries at the moment, but personally I would’ve tried to play some sort of 4-2-3-1 with Mainoo & De Ligt as your 2 DCM’s. Maguire & Yoro at CB and Martinez at LB. Rashford, CE & Diallo in the 3 and Højlund up top. You’ve then got the option of Antony, Garnacho and Zirkzee off the bench, and moving to a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1.
Base things on a solid foundation, get in 0-0 at half time and go from there.
