Harvest white_dragon A couple of weeks before my dad died he told me about being on a boat guarding German POWs back home. This was '46, he was eighteen. He said as they sailed into Rostock it looked like the end of the world, everything flattened. He said he'd never seen anything so sad. No eighteen year old kid should be doing either of those things - guarding prisoners and seeing the horrors of war. It was only last year I found out that he'd decided to be a conscientious objector as war was against everything he stood for, his family talked him out of it.
