Not the chocolates, or the David Bowie song, but true 'Heroes'; people you look up to for whatever reason. Just wondered if people had any particular ones from music, sport, politics, family or wherever?
Personally, I'm very much in the Public Enemy camp i.e. 'Most of my heroes don't appear on no stamps'. Never really been impressed enough by other people to hero worship them, as I take people as I find them. The sort of people who I think are heroes would be the sort that took up arms against the nazis in Austria, or in the Warsaw ghetto, or nurses and doctors working through Covid or trying to repair people being blown up in Gaza, Syria, Ukraine etc.
When I worked for LLL, I was once asked about my favourite Leeds player and said Peter Lorimer. I was asked if I wanted to interview him, but I declined because I was scared of being disappointed. They say you should never meet your heroes, don't they? Maybe that was the wrong thing to do, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
I'd love to say my mum and dad, but sadly I can't, for reasons that I have discussed at length already.
