In terms of fiction, the Sean Duffy series by Adrian McKinty is superb. Starts early 80s with the hunger strikes and stakeknife up to 1990 in the latest one, charting the political and cultural landscape of NI (Ali visiting Belfast, DeLorean, etc.) from the perspective of a Catholic copper in the largely Protestant RUC. Lots of interesting commentary on the paramilitaries, government informers, politicians, communities and their aspirations. I was going to say paranoia, but checking for car bombs every time he leaves the house is just a mundane part of the daily routine and one a lot of folk did as a matter of course then.
The Milkman by Anna Burns is excellent too.
Watched a decent film last week on Amazon Prime called “The Troubles: A Dublin Story” about two brothers who join the Provisional IRA.
