Young_Marxist_at_Tescos Think that’s an interesting side issue; when we see a nice car, watch, pair of shoes, are they things we really want? Or are we just programmed/influenced to tell ourselves we do?
I have a lot of ideas on this, most stem from doing A Level, Sociology, Pychology and Media as a mature student and smoking loads of slate rocky and squidgy black.
My theroy is that humansdespite our airs, graces and mental development are still powered by two very baisc compelling urges; To live and Pro Create. All our other desires, pechadilios, nuances and behaviour and can boil down to those two basic needs. To stay alive and to pro create..
To to your point consumerism - in this instance the desire to buy loads of shit we dont really need. Are all sold to us on the basic under current of those two primary functions. the hidden subliminal and also very obvious messaging by the advertisers can be traced back to staying alive and making babies.
So OMJERs stay safe and keep fucking!!!
