Life long admirer of Neil Young but I have to admit his was a poor effort. Being a contrarian as he is he might have been pissed at the organizers for not bowing to his demands. And he might have disconnected the mics and amps; he's well petty enough to do that. Couldn't hear the riffs at all.
Note. Young didn't make his reputation on anti Vietnam War songs. His trio of chart topping albums, 'Everybody Know This is Nowhere', 'After the Gold Rush' and 'Harvest' reflected a rock and roll/country fusion with themes ranging from sex by the river side, ecstasy of dancing with a woman he was obsessed with, crazy mother-in-laws, heroin addiction, planet destruction (yes, back then), racism and on and on.
He wrote 'Ohio' in a half hour after the murder of four students by the National Guard at Kent University. It's the nearest he got to the Vietnam mess.
He's burned out now but I still love him.
