Choosing this one now as IMO the sound suits a summer day.
No big back story to this, just a song that I loved as a young lad was the Barry Biggs cover. At the time I didn't even know it was a cover.
The original by Blue Magic wasn't released in the UK so only discovered it a few years later.
It had been a hit in the US a couple of years and had more of a Philly soul sound, so this is my choice.
Had liked the sound of sweet soul in the years before....Stylistics, TSOP, and Sad Sweet Dreamer by Sweet Sensation (who amongst all the star spangled glamour, I couldn't comprehend that they lived a few miles from me).
The song just takes me somewhere with the smooth music but the contrast of the melancholy lyrics about somebody who has let good love slip through their fingers.
The Whole Town's Laughing at Me by Teddy Pendegrass was released just after this and has a similar story to tell, a similar lost love feel.
I know it's not the guitar based stuff that normally goes down well on here, but que sera sera.....
Barry Biggs reggae soul version was the UK hit.
His suit is rascal clobber. 🤩
