Placid Saw B&S at Manchester Albert 4/5 years ago. They mimed. Any band does that live can fuck right off.
Under-the-ground Placid Jesus. That sucks. I like some of their albums. Never seen them live. Don’t think I’ll bother
otis Placid you sure about that Placid? I seen both gigs on last tour about 10 years ago at Albert Hall London and no miming. Very tight live
YoungParisian_inExile Saw them at Union Chapel in Islington in 97, fucked around the whole gig switching instruments and ended up playing half a dozen songs. Love their music, not a big fan of them.
Placid Dont get me wrong, I bloody love some of their tunes. Seymour Stein Rollercoaster Ride Just thought live they were a bit boring and mimey.
fuzzy My eleven year old takes great joy in belting out the chorus to "If you're feeling sinister". Especially when she is down for church parade duty with scouts. Makes me laugh. It's a great song. Never seen them live though.
Placid otis The band didnt mime, he did for some of the slower songs. Maybe it was one gig. But it put me off. Tbh it was quite dull. Think its me, not sure gigs are for me. Cant stand still for long im impatient and twitchy. My boredom threshold is well low.
Jon Placid I don’t think gigs are for me anymore either and I like live music but the old legs aren’t what they used to be and my patience with gig talkers is severely tested at almost every concert these days.
Young_Marxist_at_Tescos Jon Gig talkers. Stood next to two absolute cunts at WP gig last Friday in Sheffield. Of course they shut up and bounced around, singing along during Kennedy, then went back to full-on natter immediately afterwards.
Djpekingman Gigs are fucked for me now. There's nothing on round here unless you like dull formulaic spanish pop/rock, (which I certainly don't) or have to travel to Barca or Madrid to see somebody 'big'. And even when you do get to one it's full of wankers with their phones in the air recording the entire gig. And there really boils my blood.
YoungParisian_inExile Grumpy old men 😁 In saying that, the crowd at the Chemical Brothers pissed me off . All doing the same generic shapes people threw 30 years ago . Cosplay c*nts
Kevin_Stapleton Who'd want to see St Etienne live? (pervs apart) Surely more of a studio band. Saw them in 94 and they were piss-weak, they didn't help themselves by having Pulp as support, who showed them how it should be done.
Jon Kevin_Stapleton On a massive tangent, Wilco once had Flaming Lips support New Years Eve at MSG. Apparently, Jeff Tweedy came on stage and said, ‘How the fuck are we supposed to follow that?’
Reggie_Perrin I saw Saint Etienne at Duchess before Sarah Cracknell. I think they have made some fantastic pop music over the years and Bob Stanley write a great book about the progression of pop over the decades.
Jon Reggie_Perrin Got torn ticket stubs for American Music Club, Grant Lee Buffalo and St Etienne in New York and no memory of seeing any of them.
