Went out for a few drinks and a bite to eat the night before with the Mrs, some place up Chapel Alerton.
We got wed at the registry office. Asked a few people what they were doing two weeks on Saturday. Neither of us like a fuss. I felt bad her folks weren’t there but it was a wonderful occasion with some great friends and some of my family there. It was too early for my grandad but he wished us luck. What a champ.
We didn’t have a reception. I think some went off into town to get a bite to eat and a few drinks. My best man went to the match. Behaviour we totally encouraged. We went to Harry Ramsden’s, as it was then, and then went to the Lakes for two days.
Friends I just stayed with in Leeds, two truly lovely lasses, told us their mam, who we both adored, said it was the most romantic wedding she’d ever seen. Thanks Patsy.
We intended to have a church wedding at some point but family on both sides pushed for one almost immediately and once that started it was never going to happen. Coming up on 33 years and she’s still my best mate and I totally adore her even though she drives me mad at times. God knows what she sees in me.
