BobbyDavros Made macaroons the other day, not macarons, on purpose. The room just gave a huge sigh of relief when I put them down. Proper coconut chocolate stuff, not some social media whimsy.
Anchor Not baking but preserving. I found a load of Quince trees the other week absolutely laden with fruit so a scrumped a load and turned it into jelly today. Rather a lot of jelly.
space Bod no knead white loaf, wholemeal loaf, pittas, cobs, much better than shop bought stuff I gave up on bread making because I wasn't happy with what a bread maker turned out and hand kneading dough was beyond my aging fingers. But recently I bought myself a £10 hand mixer from Asda that has a set of dough hooks and I use this on packet bread mixes. You can get all the "kneading" done while it's in my big bread bowl so I don't have to clear up a Christmas nativity scene from the kitchen sides. I can get out of bed, spend ten minutes making the dough, then go shower and dress while the dough is proving. It's not as nice as stuff from scratch but it's a hell of a lot nicer than sliced warbutons.
space Bod I get the sourdough ones from Aldi and the Tesco Crusty white mixes. I've just made a sourdough using a can of cheap cider. It's in the oven now. It's going to go one of two ways, but if you don't try stuff you'll never know.
