Up in Sunderland today, bit of time to kill so sought out the Barbour factory shop you lads have mentioned....Thru the first bit with the new clobber in, then into the magical paradise that is the seconds/sale room. I go flicking through the coats, trying on stuff, then an assistant wheels out a clothes rail ten feet to my right..."Eeee..", she says to a little feller in a wax jacket, "These are a good buy, bit of a white mark on the sleeve but it'll wash off, only £29, should have been £229...". I freeze. I can't quite see but it looks from here like an International, in black.... I put down the pile of sweaters I'm holding and head straight for the rail, pushing people out the way. Sue enough, International jacket, tiny bit of dust on the shoulder. I try an XL, too big but I'd have had it. Luckily, there's a large, spot on. I go back for another large with even less dust on the shoulder. As if all that wasn't good enough, if you buy two items, you get a third free!!! Hopefully my brother won't read this cos if he does he'll know where his Xmas present came from...I had a work colleague waiting patiently outside in the car park as we had another job to go to. He had to text me to tell me we had to leave. I was giddy. As well as a crew neck wool sweater and a v-neck cotton sweater, I had a waxed bucket hat, my international jacket and a couple of gifts for Dad and bruv, all for £59. It's been a very bad week, retail therapy to the rescue.

Best bargain ever? Thats a tough one. It's right up there. My Missus went mad when I got home. She wanted to know why I hadn't bought more! She'd have flooded e-bay with 'em....I loves a bargain me!

Me and BLB went yesterday.Got an winter utility jacket , http://www.barbour.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=products.view&ProductID=17135&PCategoryID=24&RangeID=1 a mint black sapper jacket in treated linen http://www.barbour.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=products.view&ProductID=17090&PCategoryID=23&RangeID=1 - sort of like CP Company lino flax, and another international for the SP, and a really nice shirt for £270 all in.Bloke told me they had a few Boxfresh dryfly's in the other week. Really regretting not getting one of those now - I should have bought one and got Barbour to re-line it in Barbour tartan.

not as good a bargain as Obl but those would've cost me £670 normally so 400 smash saved.

We ought to form an 'OMJ Friends of the Barbour Factory Shop' society, then we could organise regular coach trips and negotiate a generous discount. We could find a nice tea shop in Yarm to stop at on the way. The place was full of elderly, well-dressed Italians on Friday, do they travel over especially? I know they like their Barbour but a shopping excursion to an industrial estate in Jarrow is above and beyond the call of duty in my book. Mind you, if its that or the Angel of the North...

Not sure if they're everywhere but TK Maxx in East London have a load of Barbour coats in at around the 50 quid mark. Not sure what kind exactly - they're brown, quite thick, hood and a chord collar. Apologies for the rubbish description but they're well worth a trawl of the rails for.

Tell her it's historically significant, especially to those with an interest in the development of the working class as a political force in Britain. Tell her you're going to go to the very point at which those brave blokes began their march, their Crusade for jobs. It's easy to find, just follow the signs for Barbour factory shop..
