VB. Formula Aussie lager, dirt cheap at £3.49 for six, washed that curry darn well.

Becks. I like to think of it as the chicken madrass of beer.

I owe an apology to the Leeds Brewery, never been taken with their beer, a bit bland I always thought. On this visit home noticed a lot of flavours I didn't notice before, the Pale is lovely.

My local offy does some nice brews at 3 for £4.80. Got Acorn Blonde, Cropton Monkman's Slaughter and York Breweries Minster Ale. The Blond was a nice light hoppy /flowery affair, good thirst slaker. Monkman was summat else entirely. It's more complex than Oedipus, big Lafroaig whiff to it and like suppin a tasty bonfire. Dead liquory for only 6%. Gone to me head an all. :P Just poured the Minster out and the smell is a bit farty, tastes creamy but not too much, really nice balanced flavour, bit sneaky but not too flavoursome or overpowering, bet I'd be nice for a session. Bitter hops on the finish. Just burped up a bit of the double choc biscuit ar lass has bin making, worked well with the beery burp gravy. York Breweries rocks, once went to a wedding that had a barrel of Yorkshire terrier, which was lovely, Minster Ale is up there with it.Busting for a piss now, Best piss ever thread anyone? *thunders one into the sweet spot in the middle of the watter*

Had some of the 'legendary' Worthington White Shield- on offer at Morrisons. It's amazing, really meaty IPA, smells eyewateringly hoppy, but with a smoothing maltiness. Tastes like...I may need to educate my palate to do it justice. I know it's nice on the tongue and tbh it's kind of like a lovely beery dark sherry, that you'd have at yer gran's as a kid but without the punch. If you've had any Marston's Old Empire, you can tell it's trying hard to be White Shield, but failing in just about every aspect. Only thing i can do is agree with Michael 'The Beer Hunter' Jackson -...a firm maltiness; a herbal, sappy, briar-like , hop fruit bitterness; and an underlying apple fruitiness. Get some while it's cheap, and avaliable, and keep the bastard out of the fridge.

On a 6 week break myself now too YP. A quick google reveals that Becks is 0.5 % alcohol. Can't taste any worse than that Kaliber stuff used to though.

I had always planned this break. I've got some minor hospital treatments and new medication for various bits and bobs coming up. I'm doing ok with it, I just went out with more of a bang than I'd intended. :D
