New album 'Paean to Wilson' is his best for 20 years IMHO. Instrumental, ambient and full of weird loops and feedback. VR sent a demo to Wilson when AHW was in Hospital and offered to come and play it for him 'as long as you dont sing' was the response. After Wilson's death VR recorded it in its original vocal-less format. Sun 24 Jan - Lowry theatre Salford Sun 31 Jan - Leicester Square Theatre Bumped into Bruce Mitchell just before Christmas, he has two walking sticks to help him get about now. DC must be the sickliest band in rock. But their tunes are getting healthier as the years pass.

Great venue for the sound. Best I've seen Shack was there. Odd though, ladies with torches showing you to your seat like in olden times.

is this art or are you a technician , is this art or are you a technician repeats about 50 times until it fades tony wilsons voice , vinny reilly says this is for tony and so an hour of something rather special and obviously very personal starts everyone on stage is sat down apart from the old bloke who plays drums he prefers to stand their seems to be a kinda spanish feel to the music with the trumpet (hacienda ?) every now and then polly comes on to stage to play the organ with reilly standing behind playing guitar she,s awarded with the fact that she,s written most of the songs played tonight half way thru and reilly plays some kinda minature 4 string guitar the sound is amazing second half he pays alongside the trumpet and the whole sound takes on a different dimension like that industrial/urban sound with the trumpet sounding like a speeding car which gets louder then fades louder and fades at the end tony wilsons voice comes thru again talking about the social/poverty divide in britain the music stops and the band walk off in typical factory fashion will there be an encore there was one song you got the impression that you,d witnessed something special and personal , great gig great venue and of course great company .

The atmosphere and set up sounds just like the DC gig in London last September. they played the new Kings Place venue which is really designed for classical and jazz events. Am sure it was the usual DC crowd but they were all wearing blazers and slacks, like if you treat us as posh twats will behave as posh twats. got another DC set in the capital next Sunday, a venue in L eicester Square which I dont know but am half expecting more sophisticated surrounds to drink wine in.
