Weller taking over the David Jensen show in October 1982. Includes Shalimar, Orange Juice, the Farmers Boys, Pete Shelly, loads of Motown and news reports about Solidarity shipyard strikes (and some nasty business with a shooter in Wales). Thing that gets me a bit weepy is the way it fades in and out, just like when you used to listen in your bedroom.

Loved radio from that time. Kid Jensen, Robbie Vincent, Janice Long etc were my John Peel...

Flaneur Kid Jensen gets overlooked a lot. I listened to his show and often fell asleep during John Peel’s.
Peel played a lot of shite at times but there’d be a gem or two in there more often than not. Was it Richard Skinner before Jensen had that time slot?

Yeah, I always really enjoyed the pre-Peel slots. Always taped Peel before I fell asleep. Loved the Jensen/Peel handovers but probably sound wincingly naff these days. First heard the Velvets on Jensen. Always had good interviews too.

In an attempt to revitalise my music listening and to stop listening to playlists where I end up skipping song after song, I'm streamlining. So for some bands I'm trimming them down to 20 songs max.

I need help with New Order I know everything up until Power Corruption and Lies, any highlights from PCL onwards I should consider. Be selective, and I don't like Blue Monday that much.

I was going to wade through their catalogue but it wa hard work.
