king_of_the_slums Oh, FFS, No! The last thing we need is a "marquee " signing with no PL experience. Get someone who can guide/help the younger lads through the season. Milner would be ideal - on a number of levels. Striker-wise, definitely look at the Brentford lad and the young Irish kid at Norwich.

Reggie_Perrin I don’t think it’s imperative that we sign White. They’ll have other targets in mind also. How much does everyone reckon Brighton would want for White? If you think where he is in his career compared to where Stones was when he went to City, anyone care to post up a figure they think is realistic? I have no idea to be honest.

Love everything about this kid. He's gonna be a very good keeper in a very short space of time. Great awareness, great feet, only punches when it's absolutely necessary. Do for me.

A player is generally worth what any club is prepared to pay.
In terms of White a fee of 30m has been banded about a lot which on the face of it seems bonkers for a player of his age and limited PL experience.
That said,he's poor quality and I personally would have no problem us paying that sort of fee for him,provided we could afford it,which I doubt very much.

king_of_the_slums he's also got 2 years left on his contract, so we could ask him to sit it out. They need to sell him next season or lock him down. Not sure what power a player has if say Man U come in and say, we'll give you 35 rising to 40m for him.

Agree,although the Brighton manager reckons he's going nowhere and is a major part of their plans.
He would say that though in order to bump up the odds.
If White is as keen on coming as they reckon,it may need him to put in a transfer request to force their hand.
His agent will no doubt be calling all the shots.

There are only a few clubs who could come in for White, Liverpool, who have been watching him all season, but apparently don't have a lot of funds to spend, Man City, who are after Ake from Bournemouth, so do they need White as well, Chelsea don't need him.
