you lot still bumbling on about creekiiitt (said in boycott accent)? slightly jealous as we never played it someone off brackenwood robbed the school sports cupboard and they never replaced it all although you could buy stumps on sprigs in the highwood tap room for a few months after. got my eldest lad in at pro coaching through ycc. some well talented 6 years olds down there.

I was a little toughie in my village, ( a genteel village to put things in perspective) but I was too soft for cricket. But until I was 14 I didn't know proper cricket balls had a leather casing on them, I was used to waving a cheap bat at them, no pads on a bumpy football pitch almost hoping you wouldn't hit these things that sent a shock straight up your arm.Even if a game got going, the team to bat first would fuck off one by one starting as soon as their innings was over.Cricket is for manic depressives.

If this thing about Darel Russell is true that makes 4 free signings on borderline Div 1 / CCC wages. Thi sis not filling me with confidence. I don't think there is that much wrong a with a freebie at this level but only if they are markedly better players than we have and we are paying better money to better players on the back of it. I can't honestly say any of these are that (Schmeichel is potential I suppose).

Get a few dirty bastards in and we'll survive (which is fine by me).[/quote]To aim for survival this season is just crazy. Only Burnley and Boro will feel the benefit of parachute payments and there are no teams in this league with the potential to dominate, save maybe Forest if I had to pick one. It's a pretty level playing field and next year you might have 4 teams with an extra £11m in their pocket.

I'll take survival and a team that gets stuck in. Not arsed about the premiership in any event. Mid table with committed, nasty players would do me fine. Next season with Nylon and plastic trumpets will be bad enough, add on the premiership glee club and .....I could handle us going for it despite all that, if I really thought that they would. But IF what you say about it being sold is true, Reg - why would they plan for anything but maximising the cash take for them? The new fellas will be the splash the cash merchants surly? At least they are upgrading a bit. And for that I am grateful.

Surely the maximising the cash bit is promotion? £90m or fuck all? What's the diff in TV money between Div1 and CCC? Not a huge amount I'll bet.My point with these signings is that they are not "proven CCC" quality at all. Schmeichel (is potential), Connolly is average CCC fullback, Paynter has played 13 games in the CCC and never scored, Russell (if he's the next one) is defo a CCC player but not one that was snapped up when Naridge went down.

See were back on the thread topic again .Only on this site can you start a thread which then goes off on a tangnt Any way enough of cricket the sport of the unathletic & people too scared to shake a bit of wood at someone in a brawl &watched by people waiting for their reservation for a room up top I would love Leeds to win the champoinship then refuse to join the Premier ,not gonna happen i know especially with Sanity Clause in control maybe just missing out every year's not a bad option need something to play for midtable would be dull
