Transfer Rumours/Signed

Harvest

Foxy_Dread I can see that, like Lewis Cook.

SardineTree

Foxy_Dread
Never saw that much of him but liked what I saw. He'd bulked himself up too this summer, less lightweight. Not sure how much we paid. Still, Costa for cover - I've not written him off yet. And Summerville could be one explosive sub!

space

Poveda always looked up for it when he came on as sub.

l.q.navarro.

Didn't rate. Full of little pointless twists + turns, + nothing on the end of it.

Foxy_Dread

@l.q.navarro.#468208 I suspect that's a Bielsa command - don't lose the ball trying to beat a man. it's not often any of our wingers go for it. It's not often you see any of them losing the ball beating a man, That's why I said he's not a good Bielsa fit, he needs someone who will let him off the leash at times. Costa's probably suffering the same to some degree.

Foxy_Dread

Foxy_Dread We will see if it's a Bielsa command thing if Summerville ever gets a game, if he isn't taking men on it's definitely an instruction.

heyho

Are there stats on assists - do our wide men contribute a lot (you always think Harrison does) or do the assists come from other areas such as Bamford and the like. And if so are they different to other teams

CharlieG

Liked Poveda. Figured he could play wide and stick Rapha in the 10 role.

SardineTree

Just seen first half of dog botherers. I thought O'Brien class - against poor opposition mind. A lot of negativity around, 'we should be aiming higher.' I always enjoyed buying players from 'lesser' clubs and turning them into stars - Joe Jordan, Gordon McQueen, Gordon Strachan.

Placid

I thought Poveda was too weak. To be that small and wiry you got to be exceptional. He wasnt IMO.

Get summerville on the bench hes electric but small and wiry

oneallanclarke

SardineTree He came with a rep for being difficult to handle. Silly boy if he’s repeated that and been told to get lost.

Foxy_Dread

oneallanclarke I think it's best for him that he moves on, there is nothing for him at Leeds he needs to be playing. I'd respect him for wanting to play and speaking up rather than sitting there taking his wages and hoping for crumbs. It's going to be happening a lot in the next year or two because of Bielsa's squad loyalty and the good crop of young uns who won't be getting opportunities.

Foxy_Dread

Assists are a useless stat, beat three men square it to someone who scuffs their shot and someone at the far post taps in, the assist goes to the shot scuffer.

heyho

Foxy_Dread If we didnt have stats some people wouldnt have jobs 😆

Mitaman

Foxy_Dread But what percentage of assists are scuffs/ mis-hits etc? If its 10%, then 90% are of value. Just means that assists have a lower weighting of importance, not a totally useless stat.

CharlieG

heyho My eldest, for instance. She does scientific data analysis, as a side line to her university research work.

Harvest

I think there's still a couple of players to arrive before the end of the month. This O'Brien rumour isn't going away for one.

Mega_Armageddon_Chickens

Harvest
The Tomáš Skuhravý rumour has never gone away in my head. Bet he looks like a Spinal Tap roadie these days

Harvest

Mega_Armageddon_Chickens I'm still hanging on to Tony Woodcock being about to put pen to paper.

Jon

Do Huddersfield have any parachute money due this season? I think they'll do a del for les than 10 with add-ons if the lad says he wants a transfer. Last year of his contract, I think.

I agree about assists. Steve Guppy provided proper assists but a lot of the graft is done before the ball gets to the player credited with an assist most times. I think it's more relevant in a game like basketball.

Jon
I don t think it s that simple with them.
Dean Hoyle who was their Chairman (owner) when they got promoted lent them money, which had to be repaid and then some of the parachute payments were reduced.
Not sure how good O Brien is, but we should be able to get him for £7m.
As it s them, I d pay £5m and they can keep Roy Ellam this time.

The article is year old, but the money has hardly been rolling in, these past 12 months.
