Mitaman What would it cost to replace him? I can’t see the sense in selling him now. Aren’t the figures dictating what we can spend calculated from the last three seasons accounts?

Mitaman I think there’s a risk when you look at the profit he’d bring in and someone stepping in wanting to splash the cash. But I think they probably see Tanaka and Statch as a mid to top PL CM pairing. They’d be mad to cash in without rolling the dice.

The other risk is someone like Arsenal coming in for Amps.

Jon get £30m for him, spend £60m on a top-end striker. You get a proper No. 9 for net £30m spend. As much as I love Tanaka and want to see what he can do at this level, thats good business in my book.

Added: Despite what my heart says, my gut says he might be just a tad too slow at this level and get robbed on the ball. If I’m wrong, then we have the next Pirlo. (He got robbed on Saturday BTW)

Edited to add - you seem to be writing him off for our midfield. Unless when talking of our midfield you mean two midfield players ahead of a deep sitting Ampadu. Making three midfield players in total.

king_of_the_slums how the midfield do comes down to set up as much as personnel. His at times vertical DM CM AM would get ripped apart in the PL whoever plays.

Foxy_Dread I think it'll be Ampandu & Stach for tough teams and 3 CBs, Ampadu, Stach & Tanaka for mid teams, Tanaka & Stach for teams we know we can beat. Not writing Ampadu off at all. I want to keep them all including Gruev. But Mitaman had some inside conversations and it was claimed some fans favourites would be leaving, to me that's Tanaka, Amps or Rodon.

Foxy_Dread yeah, I think we'll see 3 CBs and 2 FBs against top teams. Tanaka plays the ball on the ground in the main, so he'd be out in those matches for more muscle and long ball merchants who can ping for a counter (Stach & Ampadu)

It was happening once or more a game towards the end of last season. I don't know if he was tired, if there's a flaw that can be addressed or if it's more fundamental. I thought he was very good on Sat bar that one(?) occasion so lfingers and evertything crossed it's something that can be sorted out.
