CBIT Enlivened the drive back from Norwich this afternoon . TMS were also rubbishing the idea of any sort of declaration
CBIT Back on the harem scarum batting today. On a sad note, this is the last ever test to be broadcast on TMS via LW - might have to finally buy a digital radio for the car
EEPW My old man bless his soul was a bit of an Spiv and never paid for ought he couldn't blag or bribe for. This included getting me and R kid into the players lounge at every home game at ER in the early 70s. he just popped a fiver into the top pocket of the commissionaire. He also did the same at Headingley when England were playing. in 1977 he blagged us into the ground and then made me sit on the pavilion steps as we didnt have a seat. This is the moment Sir Geoff hit his 100th 100 and thats me in the background checkered shirt arms aloft. crazy shit
Travis_Bickle EEPW fast forward to 21.04. You can see my mate Michael getting the match ball. Can't miss him, he's in a red jumper and sky blue kecks.....
Raposa EEPW That was the first test match I went to. Was sat in the western terrace that day. Great day,
oneallanclarke EEPW We were right at the back of the seats on the St Michael’s Lane end. My friend from school was one of those who ran on when Geoff got his 100. He was in smack in the middle of the main pic on the front page of the Yorkshire Post next day. His dad wasn’t happy.
Mitaman Interesting that they have 3 of the top 5 batters in the world? But is this only because they are flat-track specialists? Get them on English wickets and its all a bit uncertain.
Raposa Little doubt that had it not been for the weather in Manchester we’d have regained the Ashes. Even the two games the Aussies won could and probably should have gone the other way. A lot will point to that declaration in the first game but you could argue that it set the tone for the whole series. Great stuff.
Reggie_Perrin Raposa i was at Edgbaston that day and he wanted to give his opening bowlers the new ball to have a crack at Aussie batsmen who had been out in the 35 degree heat all day. Could have worked but our bowlers were not really firing. Wood might have made the difference.
Chopper_Read It was a gamble and it didn't pay off, but it has in other tests. The Aussie cheats are No. 1 for a reason. The question is what happens now Broad, and sooner rather than later Anderson retires? Who is stepping up?
