Thanks to a whistlestop tour of Hull, I am a bit of a fan. A town that's really called Kings Town that turfed out Charles 1 and started the English Civil war. Home of William Wilberforce and calls to abolish the slavetrade. Some surprising architecure in and around the centre if you don't know the place - pisses on Leeds to be fair.Anyway, that festival coming up. Thu Sept 11th evening I'll be there. Carabosse - a spectacular fire installation which over three days will transform the old Fruit Market area from a dark forgotten space, into a breathtaking hub of light, music and art. French company Carabosse will create a tranquil walk through the streets where spectators will discover a host of different entertainment and surprises, including DJs, art projects, graffiti artists and dancing. Manchester is the only other British city to have ever hosted Carabosse, who will perform in Hull before heading to London. You're right, Hull is a cross between Dull and hell, it would be better if they called it Kings' Town

I'm off down tomorrow to have a butchers. Initial reports suggest the Carabosse thing is astonishing. Spoke to one lass who went tonight : "It's just like being abroad" :)
